Managing CLI Timeouts

You can set the timeout value for CLI sessions by using the system timeout commands. The timeout value specifies how long a CLI session remains idle before being automatically terminated. The CLI timeout value is cluster wide; that is, every node in a cluster uses the same CLI timeout value.

Modifying the CLI timeout Value

Use the system timeout modify command to modify the CLI timeout value for all nodes in a cluster. The default is 30 minutes. To prevent CLI sessions from timing out, specify a value of 0 (zero). The following example sets the timeout value to 0 (that is, CLI sessions never time out):

node::> system timeout modify -timeout 0

Displaying the CLI Timeout Value

The system timeout show command displays the timeout value for CLI sessions on all nodes in a cluster, as shown in the following example:

node::> system timeout show
CLI session timeout: 0 minute(s)
